In respect to the late Queen the green will be closed ALL day on Monday 19th September, the day of the funeral.
Friendly bowls matches this week will continue as planned with a moments silence before we start. It would be appropriate if players wore black arm bands but we realise that they are not easy to come by at this time.
We will be moving the Club Night to Tuesday 20th, starting at 5:30pm.
What a way to end our bowls finals weekend at Ember! The day started with the Coronation Cup in the morning and Egham beating Raynes Park. The morning also saw Jim Byrne win the non-winners and Tony Baker and Roy Barton the Open Pairs Handicap.
The afternoon games kicked off with a heavyweight championship match that saw Malcolm and Jenny Baird win on the last bowl of the last end against Tony and Mary Baker in the “Bairds vs. Bakers” Mixed Pairs Championship. A truly epic game and well done to both the Bakers and Bairds for making it such a great contest!
In the ladies final, Sylvia Jones beat Beth Cartledge in a well fought match of skill and tactics, while Dick Jones was deservedly crowned the Men’s Champion after beating Stuart Chalmers 21-16 in a well played and close tactical game.
Finally, thanks to everyone who took part, organised the competitions, did bar duty, baked cakes, made teas and lunches, put up/put away tables and chairs, kept the green in tip-top shape, washed up and cheered on our finalists. You all made it a brilliant weekend – see you next year!

Yesterday saw some top-class bowling from our finals players, including an epic showdown in the Ladies Pairs that went down to the last bowl. Today we’ve got another full calendar of games including the Men’s and Ladies finals and the Coronation Cup. Our bar is open and there’s raffle prizes and cakes, so come down and enjoy the atmosphere and see some great games!

Please be advised that the Bowling Green will be closed for the routine monthly spraying of Compost Tea on Wednesday morning 14th September 2022 until approx. 1pm. This spraying must be carried over 3 consecutive days (ie. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings).
Again, apologies but necessary for the maintenance of our green.
Some pictures from our Tennis coaching session on the 30th July – a great day showcasing our expert coaching team’s ability. A great time was had by all, and thanks to everyone who attended. Remember to check out https://www.embertennis.co.uk for more info on the coaching we offer!
