From the Archive…

Thanks to Peter Collins these documents have emerged.  Mysteriously contained in an envelope marked “Not to be opened until the year 2000”  Peter held back until now to reveal a menu from Ember Bowling Club’s 25th Anniversary Dinner and an autographed menu from the 1976 Surrey County BA Presentation Dinner.  Different days, but you may recognise a few names…

Not sure of the bias on that bowl…

An indent for the Dave channel. Not sure if that bias is strictly legal…

Another grand day out!

Continuing our great tradition at Ember Bowls Club of visiting friendlies to far-flung places (in this case Worthing!), we had a fantastic day out at the seaside playing against Marine Gardens Bowls Club. Our hosts were amazing, and we had a great walk along the beach, a slap-up lunch and then a close fought game of bowls before heading off home via the lovely Watermill pub in Dorking for a meal and a few drinks to round off a great day. Thanks to all who helped organise our day out, especially Linda!

Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations to Malcolm and Jenny Baird on their 50th anniversary from all at Ember! A great time was had by all tonight helping them celebrate the momentous occasion, with some free drinks and lovely food provided by the happy couple themselves. Cheers!

Ember Go Top

The Racal-Decca league have published a mid-season table to show Ember leading the pack.  But Captain Malcolm Baird sounds a note of caution, pointing out that we have played more matches than anyone else and that with 10 points available for each match a lot can change…  So let’s enjoy it while we can and keep the good results going.

Congratulations to Jerry Ingham

It was a normal Monday Night Roll-Up except for the visit of Graham Dawber, the Surrey County Bowling Association’s President, accompanied by Vice-President Derek Harvey and Junior Vice-President Roger Lanham.
They were here to present the prestigious Surrey County Leopard Award to Jerry Ingham in recognition of his many years of service to Ember Bowls Club.  Citing Jerry’s many contributions to the wellbeing of the Club, including initiating the beginners courses and evening triples league, President Graham Dawber presented Jerry with his Surrey Leopard blazer flash and certificate.  Congratulations Jerry; thoroughly deserved.
