Ember Big Band Masterclass!

A great feature this week in the Surrey Advertiser about the amazing Ember big band masterclass that took place at Ember Sports Club ahead of the band’s upcoming Christmas concert at Claygate Village Hall.
They were also joined by an extra-special guest, Louise Clare Marshall, singer with the Jools Holland Orchestra! Here’s a copy of the article and some pics from the masterclass.

Ladies Evening at Ember

The tennis section held an Indian themed Ladies evening on October 16th for the Ladies of the whole club. Our dance teacher, Gita taught us Bhangra and Bollywood dancing, and how to wear a sari.  With good food and company the evening flew by and we finished with a meditation taster, led by our tennis member yoga teacher, Julia.  A great evening, with requests for a repeat early next year!

Timber!

One of our tennis courts will be out of action for a little while!

A large oak tree in a adjacent garden to our club (belonging to one of our long-serving members Val Chicken) fell down of its own accord yesterday and into our tennis courts!
All the branches had already been trimmed off it some years ago after it became diseased so it was not a particularly pretty sight but it was a well known landmark.
The remains of the tree will be removed in the middle of next week but the court surface has been damaged and so court 6 will not be usable until the surface has been repaired and the artificial grass surface relaid.
